☮.♥.✮ ☀..✈: An Almost Answered Prayer
15 October, 2009

It is commonly believed that St. Therese grants the sign of a rose to those who practice this devotion during a period of nine to twenty-four days, as a proof that the petition is granted. The sign of a rose or some other visible sign is not always evident…” ─ from www.mmponline.org
Two days ago, I finished my 9-day Novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus. I have been wanting to write about the signs that I have received since I started praying to her, but I waited til after the 9th day. I’m Catholic. Do I go to Church every Sunday? No. Am I perfect? Of course not. Do I force my faith upon people and judge them because they are different? Nope. But this year, I’d say that my spiritual life has leveled up… changed… improved.

My prayer has not been granted yet, but I must say that the signs are everywhere, especially when I least expect to see them. I would get creeped out sometimes ─ I know I should not be, but the rate that I get see my signs, they're just too good to be true. Nevertheless, I am more than thankful for them. I'd like to share some of the signs during the 9-day period that I was praying the Novena to St. Therese.
  1. I was on the escalator at the mall, going down. On the escalator that was going up, I saw a man holding a bouquet of red roses.

  2. One afternoon after working out, I was on my way to the mall entrance where I’d be picked up by my car. While walking, there was an appliance store that had TV screens in different sizes facing their huge glass window and at the exact moment that I passed by, the picture on the screens was a close-up of a yellow rose that was blooming.

  3. I also remember watching this Filipino movie on PBO one night. Dawn Zulueta, Charlene Gonzales, Sheryl Cruz, Gary Estrada, and Matthew Mendoza were there. I think the title's Ikaw Naman Ang Iiyak. There was one scene wherein Gary Estrada sent a dozen pink roses to Dawn Zulueta!

  4. Last night, I was watching Darna… Eduardo, played by Mark Anthony Fernandez, was doing a magic trick for Narda, played by Marian Rivera. In this particular magic trick, he pulled out a red rose from her hair.

  5. The other night, the moment I finished praying ─ I logged on to Twitter and my friend, Lucia, posted a tweet about receiving roses! OMG. And immediately after that, she uploaded a photo of the roses that she received.

  6. Here are the other images that I've seen randomly and unexpectedly on different times and days.

If you'd like a copy of the Prayer to St. Therese, you can search here in the Internet, they're a lot! Though I got my 9-Day Novena from St. Paul's. Have a blesses Friday.Ü

Ther only novena I have ever done was the First Nine Fridays. Ther are 12 promises that go with it, including not dying without recieving last rites. I did it with my mother when I was a boy and she died a peaceful death at home without pain or suffering (despite having cancer) and did receive her last rites.

I think you've seen plenty of signs of roses.

It's been awhile that I haven't been praying a novena--this maybe a reminder for me to do so.Sometimes I feel guilty,I seldom pray to Him anymore.Di ko na nagagawa ang dati kong ginagawa when I was still there.I'm not perfect pero hinde sapat na dahilan yun for my spiritual life and taking it for granted.I thank God for YOU,Russ.

Lots of signs of roses, good for you,Russ!!

Once I get that answer, I will tell you what it is. I'm also happy that I saw the signs from you as well.Ü You made my day when I saw them!

RICHARD.
Yes, I did get a lot of signs. I'm really very hopeful about this thing. This is the first time I've heard of First Nine Fridays. I'll look it up. Thank you for sharing.

No one's perfect and I'm telling you my spiritual life isn't the most perfect thing too. Mid-this year, it has started to improve and it makes me feel good, as if my change of lifestyle is almost complete ─ health-wise, physically, spiritually, etc... I'm happy that this entry gave you the inspiration to better your spiritual life. Enjoy your weekend too.Ü

Wow, we do have a lot of things in common...

I believe in these things a lot. I once prayed and asked for a sign of a single white rose because I rarely receive that. After 2 weeks, someone gave me a white rose and usually, this someone gives me a bunch of red roses but when he gave me a single white rose, I asked him why (since I was surprised it was a sign I asked for). He said all the red roses were gone--he tried looking for red ones but there were none already (and usually, the red ones were always there). He was super sorry for only being able to give a white one because he thought the red ones had been my favorite all this time. People might say that these things are coincidences but signs are real especially if they're coming from the Highest. :)

With all those signs, I know you're gonna receive the blessings you asked for. :)

that's plenty of signs!
roses are so beautiful, and always such a pleasure to see :)
climate change is fortunately pretty high on the agenda over here, since we want to be the first fully green island. but we have it easier i guess since we're quite small an pollution isn't very high.
i was thinking about the philippines typhoon n floods when i wrote that post :(

I wish that my spiritual life would level-up this year, too. Not all of my friends and relatives know about my spiritual life. I seldom go to church, not because I don't believe in God, not because I am lazy.. I have my reasons, and not all people can understand. Someday, I will be whole spiritually.

What you said kind of made me teary-eyed. I really feel good about this and after reading the comment from someone who has experienced almost the same thing, it's making smile right now. Sana magdilang-anghel ka.Ü

STEPH.
Aren't you glad that there are "signs"? I've always believed that they are God's way of directly "communicating" with us. I always ask for signs.

People from Mauritius must be well-disciplined. What I'm gonna write is almost heartbreaking, but it's true ─ a lot of my fellow countrymen have been careless, selfish, and irresponsible. It's just too bad that there's another super typhoon coming reportedly tomorrow morning :(

There's always room for improvement dear. I wasn't this prayerful before, but there'll come a time when you'll just feel compelled or something. Unlike other people, I didn't have a life & death experience to make me like this; it was as if something was telling me be like this. Give yourself time, you'll get there.Ü
