☮.♥.✮ ☀..✈: Ondoy taught me to BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT I HAVE.
03 October, 2009

There are times when I don't get exactly what I want and usually, I'd be dismayed. Two Saturdays ago, I had my entire day perfectly planned, but no thanks to Typhoon Ondoy, I was not able to do this and that.

My mood that Saturday morning wasn't so great, but the footage I've seen on TV and the photos on the internet made me think ─ I should not be complaining at all! My family and I were very fortunate to be safe at home, but I can't stop worrying about others. I was sending text messages to practically all of my friends because I wanted to know if they're all out of harm's way + if they're with their families. It's just too bad that some of them were affected by the typhoon. And that just hit me like a ton of bricks.

I know that some things will still upset me, but I know that they will no longer get me down. When I see sad realities in life, I try to help where I can but I also make sure I take some lesson away from the situation.

It helps to take a moment to reflect on how blessed we all are and we should all be thankful for that. The next time I'd feel like the world has me on my knees, I will remember that there are others out there faced with bigger obstacles and I will count my blessings + hope for the best + adopt a positive outlook and walk into the unknown without fear or apprehension.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.
This lesson is making me a more positive person. I really try not to focus on any of the negative things in my life. I also know that right at this moment, a lot of people will do anything to be in my shoes. It may not seem like much to me because I may want more, but to those who are at the evacuation centers because they are not left with a choice, this might mean the world to them.

After what Ondoy did last September 26, most of us have been helping out as volunteers and at the same time, we're all trying to move on. Once we have all moved on, what happens next? Please take time to read LIFE AFTER ONDOY. My friend, Stef, talks about a challenge that should be every Filipino's responsibility.

this tragedy brings us a lot of lessons that we can reflect on. and for everything else, this definitely changes everybody's lives.

but that lesson of being grateful of what we have is a good way to start our daily lives. ;)

"but that lesson of being grateful of what we have is a good way to start our daily lives. ;)" → That's the spirit! I admire your optimism. I know you were affected by the typhoon, but here you are, ready to move forward. I wish you all the best.

All of us learned something from Ondoy. I hope other people too will get the same realization as ours before everything is too late.

same here... after ondoy, monday at 4am, i woke up and realized that i was so depressed. it made me reflect on how i should give worth to my everyday life(not that i'm not giving worth to what i have but i think i'm not giving TOO MUCH worth na dinedeserve nia)...

andaming nagtetake for granted ng mga blessings na nakukuha nila... maraming d makuntento... sana marealize nila lahat nito...

tc always russ!

it's really sad that in real life, the only way we'll really learn is if we experience something bad.

sad, but true.

Sana lahat ng tao ganyan ang attitude--meron kasing ibang tao na nakakalimutan kung ano ang meron sila.Sometimes we feel like we are the most miserable person in the world but if we try to look around there some who has worst situation than us...An eye opener post,Russ.

Well, at least one point in our lives, I think we're all guilty of taking our blessings for granted. It is unfortunate that we sometimes need to be reminded of it when something not-so-good happens.Ö

SERENE.
I'm curious, what did your kids say?
