Feeling ravenous is often the culprit for being a chewing slacker, but there are many reasons why it’s important to increase the number of times you chomp. Those are good and easy tips huh? Thought I'd share them here... even though Tip #5 is a bit gross. We all have those moments where we are just shoveling food in. But, STOP! Savor each bite, and enjoy it. I'm always the last one to finish.Ü I grew up in a home where food was a big deal, and fun. We always enjoyed each and every bite. Remember, digestion starts in the mouth.
- It gets the ball rolling: The act of chewing tells the rest of your gastrointestinal system to start the digestive process.
- Better digestion: Chewing breaks food into smaller particles and increases the surface area, which is important to good digestion. The enzymes in saliva assist in digestion, too.
- Prevents bacteria: You risk incomplete digestion by swallowing pieces that are too big, and this can cause bacterial overgrowth and gas.
- More enjoyment: Taking the time to chew allows you to enjoy your food more and could prevent you from overeating.
- How to chew it: Chew your food to the point where you can no longer identify what you’re eating by its texture.

hey, these are interestingly cool tips, russ! i'll try 'em. hehehe! :)
happy sunday!
I'm always the last one finished eating. I joke that it's because I talk too much, but really it's because I chew so much. I had heard it was good to eat slow, but I didn't know the benefits you shared. Thank you!

Cool. Tell your friends too :)

Same here, another reason why I'm always last to finish is because I talk a lot especially when I'm with good company and when you're at a place that's really beautiful. I remember having a 3-hour breakfast with D before when we were in Boracay. Hehe.
This is what happens when we complaint about stomach gas, feeling bloated after eating because..... we eat FAST.
I know chewing it slowly back en forth inside your mouth doesn't sound appetizing but it's worth!
I tried to these na after I cramped from stomach pain a few months ago.
How about slurping a noodles?
Aren't you supposed to slurp 'em or the person who made the noodles will feel bad ─ not pasta though, but if I'm not mistaken it's the Japanese and Chinese who like to hear that slurping sound. I'm not so sure, but correct me if am wrong.
Hi russ!
I used to eat my food slowly and chew them very well---until I started working. You see, we only have 30-min breaks so I have no choice but finish my meal in 30 mins. This already became a habit because I noticed that at home, I'm always the first one who finishes his/her meal. :(
Same! I savor my food a little too much, I'm always the last to finish. :)
What's the rush?
GOLDEN.
Oh that's the sad thing when you're working, kailangan "Kain Sundalo". I felt that too when I was still working, what I used to do: I skip lunch because I never get to enjoy it. I never liked being rushed in anything, especially my meals.Ö
JAY KV.
No rush indeed :)
As someone who can wolf down food quickly, learning to eat slowly is really hard. I'll be honest, while trying to chew more may slow you down, for me, it also decreases the pleasure of what I am eating.
When chewing, I want to extract the flavour, the texture. Chewing until it is a tasteless pulp in my mouth won't do it for me.
I have learned to eat less. Always lots of veggies on my plate. Very small portions of starch - rice, pasta and a normal serving of protein. If I need seconds, I go for the veggies.
Even though I try to slow down, I am still the first one finished. My daughter, on the other hand, is a slo-o-o-o-o-w eater. It can take her 45 minutes to pick through half a plate.
My main trick to eating less at a meal is to eat something low cal about 20 minutes before eating. Some boiled veggies (if I made soup, there is always left over carrots and onions which no one wants to eat and I don't mind with a bit of salt) or a light fruit - like an apple or orange (I find bananas too heavy).
ok... I need to keep your tips in mind, because I'm VERY guilty for chewing my food not well! I'm always the first who's finished eating... because I don't eat that much, and because of the chewing... :S

More protein will make one feel full faster and longer. I'll try to do your 20-minute pre-meal ritual :) Your daughter reminds me of myself when I was a little girl.
TOOTHFAIRY.
You're such a cutie!
Cool facts! I definitely need to learn how to chew more and taste the food properly lol:)
one thing i can add...try no to wait until you are ravenous before you eat because it is one of the reasons you eat a lot faster than usual. obviously, you're in a hurry to put them all in in one big swallow. ;)
Guilty kame dyan. Minsan ordering and waiting for food to arrive takes 15-20 minutes.
But wolfing it all down happens in just 5 to 10 minutes!
