I am itching to write about a total loser incident that happened yesterday afternoon, but I feel that it had to be written on another time. I might just end up saying not-so-nice things about certain people because I am still very much frustrated and pissed about it. So... it is better to talk about something else.
I got another first. Weee! Growing up in a family that's addicted to basketball, I had to document bits and pieces of the first LIVE PBA Game that I watched. That was last Sunday at the Big Dome. Yeah. Just last Sunday. So spontaneous. We got free tickets.

Talk N' Text vs Alaska
My team has always been San Miguel, but last Sunday I was rooting for Talk N' Text. I mean -- Mac Cardona & Ren-Ren Ritualo -- Hello! I think it is obvious that I'd root for Talk N' Text. Nuh-uh for Alaska despite the fact that we were forced to sit on their side in Araneta. I had to do some fake cheers because we sat so close to die-hard Alaska fans. I didn't want to get stabbed at the back. Hahaha. Nah. I'm just kidding.
I can't help but compare the PBA vibe to the UAAP vibe. The latter is better. Though it was fun to hear side-comments that I do not usually hear when I am watching the UAAP, the over-all PBA feel is not as fun. They gotta hype it some more... perhaps more Marketing and Promotions. It didn't look as fun as it used to be -- years ago when I was still a kid -- when the Big J was still a playing coach for Ginebra. That was the PBA. I was expecting that kind of mood considering that we were watching Game 6 of the Finals. I am so sorry to offer a sad commentary.
I don't think it's drawing the fans it once did... especially for a country where basketball is like its national game. Game 6 of the finals, which could have been the last game of the series because Alaska could have ended it last Sunday, but there were empty seats. UAAP fills Araneta with over 20,000 people. There. They really should create more buzz and all the Marketing wizardry that they could do so that the league won't die out from the public radar.
Having said all of these, I'm watching Game 7 tomorrow. Hahaha. Still rooting for Talk N' Text.
Philippine Basketball -- I can never get enough of it.
01 | A die-hard Alaska fan. He's just one of them. There were lots around me.
02 | But look at that. What does that sign have to do with basketball?
03 | Pre-Game. Warm-Up.
04 | Of course, that's us.Ü

I think all the wheeling and dealing of players from one team to another pushed die-hard PBA fans away...there's no loyalty anymore...take for instance Patrimonio, he was with Purefoods for like centuries...Purefoods IS Patrimonio. Caidic is San Miguel. Jolas is Alaska. One player can be identified to One team. But now, you can barely catch up to all the player movements..so you don't really know who to root for - the player or the team he's currently playing for.
